How to Write a Formal Letter

We all need to write a formal email or letter from time to time. Formal writing is a unique skill requiring an uncommonly high degree of language precision, crisp paragraph organization, and professionalism from the opening greeting to the closing salutation. Folks who work in an industry that relies extensively on formal communication (e.g. government consulting) practice writing to this standard everyday. That means they can start and finish a polished formal letter in minutes.

For the rest of us, well, minutes could turn into hours. That sounds crazy but it does happen especially in high risk situations like a hopeful student crafting a cover letter for their graduate school application, a businessperson writing a response to a bank manager’s request for information, or a homeowner writing a letter to a lawyer when a real estate transaction takes a wrong turn … and it’s the lawyer’s fault.

There’s an AIPRM prompt for just about any situation that calls for a formal touch. Simply enter a few keywords and click the send button. In a few seconds, you’ll have a striking first draft. As in all things AI, be sure to proof the letter for accuracy. There are times when the AI misses the mark.
