How to Create a Press Release

I really like the AIPRM Press Release prompts because the value proposition for small and medium (SME) size businesses is so clear. Using an AIPRM prompts saves time and money because there’s no need to hire a PR service to write the release. Plus, the prompts help SMEs write a clear well structured draft in a couple of seconds. I emphasize draft because you should never trust the AI to write a 100% clear, complete, and accurate press release in the first go.

Do SMEs really need a press release?

Sure. Writing a focused and properly formatted press release is an essential communication tool that quickly helps publicize a newsworthy event related to the business. Here are three examples.

  • Generate press interest - When there is a newsworthy element, this is the tool that you use to get the word out. Maybe a local company landed a large contract to supply a major engineering project which will result in local job creation.
  • Product launch - Use the press release to announce a new line of products and highlight the unique benefits. For example, a local dentist expanded the clinic to offer a greater range of patient services.
  • Crisis management - If something bad happens, use the press release to mange the narrative, create a record of facts, and release official statements. The possibilities are endless and could range from small local problems (e.g. our business is closed for three days because of a fire) to a regional or international disaster like a major service disruption to a major airline oops.

You’ll need to feed the AI machine company/product/location specific data so that it can generate a pithy release.

  • Dateline - The location of the story.
  • Quote - A quote from a company executive (e.g. CEO) or VIP and depending on the context some customer quotes.

While editing the release, you’ll want to add:

  • Company logo and info - A boilerplate with address and contact info.
  • Media contact information - A business email (and phone number) for people with questions.
Running a prompt>

Running a prompt #

  1. Log into ChatGPT.
  2. On the AIPRM dashboard, click the Public tab.
  3. Go to the search field and enter Maximize Your PR Strategy with the Ivy Lee Style.
  4. Select the prompt.
  5. Go to the input field and enter the formatted text. (see below)
  6. Click the Send Message button.

Review the prompt. You’ll likely need to generate multiple iterations with more specific instructions like:

Rewrite the third paragraph with this quote by John Jones, CEO of Kawartha Bakery, into the third paragraph: “We’re all excited about the impact on the local economy and expect the plant expansion would generate 8 to 12 new full time jobs by the summer.”

Click the Send Message button. Review and edit.

Once complete, send the press release to local news sources in your community or region. Alternatively distribute the release through your social media sites (e.g. Twitter) or wire services like PRNewswire or Business Wire.

That’s it.

Now you know how to create a press release with AIPRM.
