Using ChatGPT for Cold Emails

21 Min
In the dynamic world of sales and marketing, staying ahead requires innovative tools. Enter ChatGPT, the game-changer for cold email campaigns, as well as various other types of content. By harnessing the power of this advanced language model, you can revolutionize your outreach strategy and unlock new opportunities.
Crafting persuasive cold emails demands personalized messaging and efficient time management. With ChatGPT’s natural language processing, you can create tailored and impactful templates that resonate with recipients. Customization options ensure your brand voice shines through, establishing genuine connections and setting the stage for fruitful collaborations.
Personal Cold Outreach Performs Best
When you’re trying to grow your business, you need to reach out to potential clients. But they won’t be interested if you send everyone the same message. That’s not an effective cold email strategy.
Instead, focus on email personalization. You should take the time to learn about each person and write an email that speaks to their specific needs. This approach might take more time and effort, but it’s worth it because you’ll get better results.
By making your outreach personal, you’ll show potential clients that you care about them and their business. And that can make all the difference.
How to Write Cold Emails with ChatGPT
Writing cold emails can be time-consuming if you’re a small business owner. That’s where ChatGPT comes in. Powered by artificial intelligence, ChatGPT is more than just a resource for email composition—it’s a versatile tool that transforms your writing process across multiple content formats. Whether you’re drafting blog posts, social media captions, or sales pitches, ChatGPT streamlines the creation process, saving you precious time and effort.
Here’s an example of how ChatGPT can create a standard cold email template you can use. While it’s helpful, this is a pretty general template that would need a lot of work to really use.
The prompt we used for ChatGPT was: Create a standard cold email template
With the help of AIPRM, you can quickly draft personalized cold emails by simply adding in some details like the keyword or overall topic you want to cover. For example, if you are a real estate agent looking for more clients, you can use this prompt to whip up an email in seconds. For this prompt, we used the keyword real estate services.
Here was the output result:
As you can see this email template goes into more detail and is more specific to your offerings. While you could eventually get a similar result just using ChatGPT, AIPRM’s prompts take the guesswork out of process, saving you time and reducing frustration.
To take it a step further, you can use this prompt create a whole cold email campaign just as easily by adding some important information:
Number of emails – how may emails do you envision for this campaign? Multiple touchpoints can help improve engagement and give you the ability to talk about your offerings in more detail.
Business name – this will help the prompt inject your details into relevant lines of text.
Industry – adding this information offers guidance to what are relevant trends, common terms, and other key details to personalize your messaging.
Email copy framework – there are a few styles or approaches you can take like Before-After-Bridge or AIDA. The framework you choose will help ChatGPT determine how to model the content.
Prospect details – by telling the prompt about your audience and possible pain points they encounter you can ensure the campaign emails address their needs.
Key offer and benefit – tell the prompt about how you can solve the issues or pain points prospects encounter.
Business services – are there any other services you offer you want to mention in your email campaign? If so, be sure to fill in this last field.
Even though it might take some time compiling this information, the result is even better than what you expected. Here’s the information we added to the prompt input:
- Number of emails – 4
- Business name – Golden Key Realty
- Industry – Real Estate
- Email copy framework – AIDA
- Prospect details – high-income professionals looking for an upgrade to their current home
- Key offer and benefit – access to a number of exclusive properties and communities
- Business services – handles everything from finding potential options to closing on the home.
Here was the result – This is the first of four emails AIPRM generated:

Generate Subject Lines
If you’re looking for a way to quickly create a list of potential eye-catching subject lines, there’s a prompt for that too! With AIPRM’s help you can generate a variety of subject lines to highlight your products and services in minutes. Most of AIPRM’s prompts require some context as to what you’re trying to accomplish. The more detail you offer the better.
For this, we used AIPRM’s Cold Email Subject Lines prompt. Our input was:
Providing upper tier real estate services for individuals with a high average median income. We specialize in finding properties in exclusive communities.
Here were the results:
Be sure to try some of AIPRM’s other subject line prompts to see which works for you:
Generate Automated Follow-Ups
Once you send a cold email to someone, it’s important to follow up with them. Sometimes people forget to reply or get busy, so following up reminds them of your email. You can use ChatGPT and AIPRM to create follow up emails similar to what you would find in the Campaign prompt we used previously.
Using the previous chat, add the following into your input field to start generating follow-up emails:
Create a series of follow up emails to keep the audience engaged
![Note: ChatGPT just added a made up eBook in the second email haha You might want to call that out in the copy.

Quality-Check Your Cold Email Content
When writing for your cold email campaign, it’s essential to make sure that it sounds good and makes sense. Here are some things to check before you hit send:
- Is it easy to read and understand? With the right prompt, ChatGPT can help you simplify your language and shorten your sentences. It can also add subheadings and format lists with bullet points to improve readability.
- Does it have any mistakes? ChatGPT can check for spelling and grammar errors.
- Does it have a clear call to action (CTA)? ChatGPT can write compelling, relevant CTAs.
- Is it personalized? ChatGPT can incorporate personal details you share into your cold email text. Just double-check for accuracy before hitting send.
While you can spend your time proofreading and revising, it can be a daunting process, especially if you’re not the greatest writer. Thankfully, you can use AIPRM and ChatGPT to do the heavy lifting. We used this prompt to review and polish up our first email within the drip campaign to see how we could improve it. Here’s what was inputted:

Create Email Content for Specific Buyer Personas
When you write an email, think about who you are writing to. Different people have different interests and needs. So, write your email differently for different people.
Think about the type of person who would be interested in what you are selling. What do they like? What do they want to know? This is called creating a “buyer persona” or an “ideal customer profile.”
Once you have your buyer persona or ideal customer profile, you can use ChatGPT to help you write emails that will appeal to that type of person.
Here are some actionable tips for creating email content for specific buyer personas or ideal customer profiles:
- Speak their language. Use the language and terminology that your target audience uses. This will help them feel like you understand their needs and are speaking directly to them.
- Highlight their pain points. Address your target audience’s pain points in your email content. Show them that you understand their challenges and that you have a solution that can help them.
- Be specific. Use specific examples and data points in your email content to help your target audience understand the benefits of your product or service.
- Use a conversational tone. Write your email in a conversational tone, as if you were talking to a friend. This will help your target audience feel more connected to you and your brand.
Limitations to Keep in Mind When Using ChatGPT
ChatGPT is a very smart tool, but there are some things it can’t do when writing cold emails. Here are three things to keep in mind:
- ChatGPT may not fully understand your business or industry, so you need to double-check the content it generates to make sure it’s accurate.
- ChatGPT may sometimes come up with ideas that are too complex or technical for your customers to understand, so it’s important to keep things simple and easy to understand.
- ChatGPT is not perfect and may sometimes make mistakes, so you should always review and edit the content it generates to make sure it’s exactly what you want to say.
